SCOH Services

Families are referred to IFSI by the Department of Human Services.  At IFSI, we help families stay together and avoid unnecessary placement of children outside the home by providing a constellation of culturally competent and developmentally appropriate services, including:

  • Family assessment;

  • Intensive in-home counseling;

  • Case management services including service planning, coordination, and follow-up;

  • Structured interventions which promote life skills development, parenting skills, children’s academic success, and family unification;

  • Social services such as transportation where appropriate, translation and  cultural interpretation; and

  • Advocacy in acquiring, coordinating and monitoring the use of community resources.

SCOH Goals

Because we believe that the family is the first and best resource for nurturing children and that the removal of children from the family setting should be a last resort, we have set the following goals for IFSI’s SCOH program:

  1. To prevent the need for a child to be separated from his or her natural family while ensuring that the child is safe;

  2. To help sustain a child in his or her home when the child has been returned to the family following institutional placement; and

  3. To stabilize families and increase their self-sufficiency by helping them to negotiate and access social, health and human service systems.

IFSI’s broad array of family centered services enables SCOH clients to attain these goals through an integrated, holistic approach that includes:

  • Language Counseling

  • Employment

  • Public Assistance

  • Health Care

  • Housing

  • Education

  • Household skills training

  • Summer Day Camp

  • Medical case management

  • Emergency food and clothing
